Trick or Treat Atlanta -- Alternative's to Neighborhood Trick-or-Treating

October 28, 2008

Halloween is so close I can smell the candy! We live in a very large neighborhood where the trick-or-treating is incredible. We have lots of kids in our area -- and while I don't get many on my out-of-the-way-cul-de-sac, one street over people run out of candy yearly! But, maybe not everyone lives in an area with lots of housed or in a place that's safe for trick-or-treating. Or maybe  Read more...

FFFN: Time to Carve Your Pumpkin!

October 24, 2008

Now that you've been to your favorite pumpkin patch and picked the perfect pumpkin, it's time to carve it! When I was younger this was always one of the messiest, most fun nights. When we all got to carve our pumpkins! They always looked a bit odd, being carved out with a large kitchen knife, but we loved it! Now that I have kids, they love the carving too -- but neither of the boys will  Read more...

Halloween & the child with food allergies

October 23, 2008

Both my kids are relatively healthy and have nothing more than seasonal allergies (and horrid eczema). But that's not life threatening. Today, my guest author and good friend, Jill Sebaugh is the mother of a child with severe peanut allergies and asthma. This year she is working with a charity to help raise awareness this Halloween. I babysit her daughter on occasion and she truly is the  Read more...

Not Just Orange and Black. Go Green This Halloween.

October 20, 2008

In an effort to be more eco-conscious our family has made several changes this year. We've started using re-usable shopping bags, the boys use the Laptop Lunchbox system for their school lunches, we have some of these cool wrap-n-mats for sandwiches when we don't use the bento box insert. Just to name a few changes. It's really not that hard to make a few simple changes and they go along  Read more...

October 17, 2008

With Halloween getting closer and closer, the kids are getting more and more restless. At least mine are. All it takes is a little patience, a little imagination and a bit of inspiration.  Read more...

Getting Dressed Up -- Local Costume Shops

October 07, 2008

Halloween is coming! My kids are so excited they've had the house decorated since August! They've been combing through catalogs trying to decide what they want to be for Halloween -- they haven't decided yet, but they have narrowed it down to about 5 each! I must say, I'm always a bit shocked at the cost of costumes versus the quality. I wouldn't mind spending $20 on a costume if  Read more...
